Early Life and Education
Born on January 14, 1985, in Chicago, Illinois, to Taiwanese immigrants, Wu was raised in a Mandarin-speaking household. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University in 2007 and a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2012. During her time at Harvard, she worked with Professor Elizabeth Warren, which influenced her interest in public service.
Career
Wu began her political career as a member of the Boston City Council in 2014, becoming the first Asian American woman to serve on the council. She was elected council president in 2016.
