Bardia, thanks for being here. Tell us a little bit about you and your background:
I am a corporate and securities partner, chair of the firm’s Technology Industry Group and co-chair of the firm’s Life Sciences Industry Group. I primarily advise emerging growth and public companies throughout their life cycles as well as venture capital and private equity firms, particularly in the life sciences, high-technology, financial technology, food and beverage, and clean-technology industries.
I have significant experience representing companies and financial firms in a broad range of general corporate governance and transactional matters, including venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, debt offerings, spin-offs/divestitures, joint ventures, IPOs, follow-on offerings, and tender offers. I am a trusted advisor, often serving as the go-to outside counsel or lead counsel to my clients.
What is a fun fact about you?
In my past life, I was a professional gamer where I was ranked top 5 in the world for FIFA Soccer. I played for a professional team that was later acquired by the Dallas Cowboys.
Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?
We are seeing the effects of climate change every season with much harsher winters, summers and weather events generally. We are at a pivotal point where if we don’t become more green conscious, we may be unable to undo the changes that are having such a negative impact on our world.
What can the average person do to make a difference?
Choose the greener option whenever possible given your personal situation. Buy the eggs that come in the cardboard carton rather than plastic. If the EV credits make the cost of an electric car nearly the same as a gasoline car and you can make it work, go with the EV.
