Be a Conscious Consumer

Green.Org spoke with director of marketing company, Cilantro Ltd, Emma Jarmaine, about the importance of being a conscious consumer.

I come from a sales and marketing background, moved into executive search and then ran my own niche energy search firm for 8 years. I’ve always loved writing marketing copy and finally took the plunge and started Cilantro a couple of years ago. Cilantro is a small yet growing company currently with three of us. We love what we do and have fun whilst doing it!

What is a fun fact about you?

I live in the Italian countryside surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. You can’t beat that for daily inspiration!

Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?

If we don’t address climate change and sustainability, the world as we know it will no longer exist so all other topics become irrelevant.

What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?

Booming! As our world becomes more digitalised and we spend more time in the metaverse, the need for excellent writing grows.

What can the average person do to make a difference? 

Take tiny steps one to live more sustainably – from tweaking eating habits, being more of a conscious consumer and reducing waste. The world needs more of us trying to make a difference imperfectly rather than a few living perfectly sustainably.
